Make a repeat that fits your canvas

The initial offset-windows sample repeats a 4-column, 3-row tile across 64 columns and 20 rows, with two spaces between tiles and one blank row between tile rows. Alternate tile rows shift by half a repeat. Edit the tile, change the gaps or try mirroring, then choose Generate pattern. Partial repeats are cropped at the canvas edge; shorter tile rows are padded, not trimmed.

Checkerboards and stripes repeat the characters in order. A size of one spans two columns or one row to account for tall monospace cells. Gradients, waves and rings treat the characters as a light-to-dark ramp. Wave amplitude is measured in rows and can extend beyond a short canvas; the wavelength is eight times the selected value in columns. Noise uses a fixed seed, so the same settings always produce the same result. Its density is the chance of selecting a character; a space in your character set still draws a blank cell.

Repeating text flows continuously across row edges, without word wrapping. Tile mirroring reverses character positions without swapping slash or bracket shapes. All modes preserve the exact chosen dimensions, including trailing spaces, with no final newline.

Keep the spacing when you share it

Use 10-200 columns and 1-100 rows. Tile artwork supports up to 24 columns by 8 rows; other custom characters and text must also be printable ASCII. Copy as Markdown adds a fenced code block. For destinations that collapse spaces, download a PNG instead: it fixes the rendering as black text on white. Wider patterns scroll inside the preview, not across the page.
